History

According to Watpangiw School’s Website, this school was estabilished on 25th March 1953 as Watpangiw Primary School. At that time, this school is only have 5 grades with 26 students (25 boys and 1 girl). The first administrator of Watpangiw Primary School is Mr. Teab Chuenwittaya.

Formerly, this school is known as ปท.8 until The Thai Government transferred this school to Pathumthani Provincial Administration Organization and recognized as ปท.1 on 1 October 1966. In 1976, Suan Mamuang School is demolished by the government, so the students is transferred to Watpangiw School.

From 1 October 1980, the school was under control by the Office of National Primary Education until 1 May 2009 Watpangiw School transferred to Pathum Thani Provincial Administration Organization by the Office of National Primary Education that approved by Mr. Chan Puangpetch.

2. Academic Support System

In Watpangiw School, there are kindergarten and primary grades from grade 1 to grade 6. About the Kindergarten classes, they’ve called the name of each class like K.1/1 or K.2/1. About the Primary classes, they also have P.1/1, P.1/2, P.1/3, P.1/4, P.1/5 for grade 1 to grade 6 are the same. Every class has Thai homeroom teacher and foreign teacher for teaching English and also Chinese for students.

3. Teaching System

Because I teach in English class so for the teaching system, teachers uses steps by steps things to do, there are: warm up; presentation; practice; production and wrap up. Each period has 60 minutes, students have 6 periods per day from Monday to Friday. In each period, teacher has various activities for students to be active and creative.

4. Materials and other learning resources

About the materials and Learning Sources at Watpangiw School are excellent. Each room has air-conditions and fans also, they’ve been equipped e-board connecting to computer so that teachers can teach by presentation directly on screen. This is the best thing I really was surprised because there aren’t enough convenient things for teaching in my country. The books and documents for teaching are so diversified. I had received the English math answer book for teacher, it’s a little bit different from student’s books.

5. Measurement and Evaluation System

In every period, teachers give exercises to students, they also make extra worksheet for student to evaluate them. Besides, teachers will organize some simple games in order to revise after their lesson, I think it’s a good way for students to remember knowledge and apply them into real life. To evaluate students after long process, they’ve have 2 tests per semester: midterm and final examination.

6. Curriculum

Curriculum in Watpangiw School is based on education core curriculum in Thailand, as in Pathum Thani Province. Teachers who teach subject that have to follow the lessons also the aim students achieving. Teachers have to make lesson plans before teaching practice, they prepare a lot of things to teach and manage classes.
