1. Teaching Methods
Teachers have used many kinds of methods to teach and manage class. But as my observation, I saw the teacher played an essential role in class, teachers controlled mostly activities because students are still young age. Before teaching, teachers usually ask students question or quiz related last lesson so that they can review their learning. After that, teachers start to teach new lesson by using books and workbooks. If it has still time, teachers make some simple games to students, it really helps them to remember lastly.
2. Learning Materials and Innovation
Teachers always know what things needing for students, they usually smile and make the class more active so that students seem interested and excited to teachers. For warming up, teachers uses music video as a motivation at the beginning of period. Besides using charts, markers, books, … teachers also make some colorful PowerPoint presentations so that students can understand the topic really well.
3. Sources of Learning and Technology
It’s up to the topic teachers will teach on that day, they use not only books as a reference but also use computer to find some exercises or worksheets and give them to students doing. Sometimes, they use projector or their own laptop as well.
4. Authentic Assessment
After finishing the lesson, teachers make some activities like playing game that can helps students developing their working in group skill. Thus, teachers may evaluate students through the way they discuss problems or share knowledge each other. Moreover, teachers will have a test on students 2 times per semester.
My mentor school is Teacher Brina who is teaching maths by English for students. She is a good teacher and really enthusiastic person I’ve ever met. I’m appreciate her because she helps me so much things that I’m in trouble.
